JoAnn Schmitz

Trusted Corporate Advisor with excellent business development experience. Legal experience encompasses intellectual property, start-up and wind-down, litigation and negotiation of business disputes, IP portfolio management, technology agreements and licensing including open source, acquisition due diligence, and buy/sell agreements. Business experience includes group management and budget responsibility for multiple product lines and marketing plans; collaboration with multiple team players and cross selling initiatives; conducted competitive and business intelligence; monitored and reported progress on plan execution against defined metrics.

JoAnn has represented numerous companies from one-person start-ups to multi-million dollar, privately held entities. Prior to her retirement, her practice emphasized general counsel, contracts, commercial litigation, business formation and owner agreements, mergers and acquisitions, and IP protection and licensing, particularly software licensing.

Prior to practicing law, JoAnn worked for a high-tech Fortune 100 company in numerous roles encompassing product management, marketing, and operations delivering leading edge technology products.

She received her Juris Doctor from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. JoAnn is admitted to the United States Supreme Court, US District and Colorado courts. She received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Information Systems and Production and Operations Management from the University of Colorado.
